SillSave was formed in 2007 by Clare Martin and George Goodger, a wheelchair user himself for over 25 years.
Our core product is the 'SillSave' - a rubber mat held in place by an internal magnet that protects the sill of a car when a wheelchair user transfers in or out, either to drive or as a passenger.
We identified a significant problem for wheelchair users from first-hand experience, namely the scratching and denting of the sill of a car when positioning the wheelchair beside it to transfer in or out.
Motability have told us that nearly 5% of all insurance claims are a result of mobility aid damage. Even if the damage does not incur any insurance excess, it can still prevent the owner of the car from receiving their £200 'good condition bonus' at the end of the 3-year lease.
The SillSave has been tested on nearly 100 new cars and it fits over 90%. The exceptions are top-of-the-range sports models which tend to have plastic or aluminium sills.
We supply SillSave with a 3-year guarantee. In the unlikely event that it does not fit the sill of your model of car we will, of course, accept returns and give a full refund.
